Biography
The tragic death of late Windir founder/vocalist Valfar has forever been recorded in the archives of metal history. Sognametal is the final testament to this highly respected musician's words and music. Recorded September 3, 2004 (what would have been Valfar's 26th birthday) at Oslo's renowned Rockefeller Club, Sognametal finds the remaining members of Windir (now continuing on in Vreid, debut album Kraft CDL180 now available) with Valfar's brother handlling vocals performing for the last time in loving tribute to the fallen icon. The sold-out evening was attended by fans as well members of Enslaved, Zyklon, Mindgrinder and more.
Formed in 1994, Windir leave behind four incredible recordings. All recorded for Head Not Found. In late 2003 the band announced their signing to Norway's Tabu Records (with US release via Candlelight). It was the critical step the band needed - finally
