The Very Air We Breathe Reviews

Victory records' debut act Driver Side Impact hit with their first album "The Very Air We Breathe". While the name suggests something more on the heavy side the band is a full bore melody ridden song oriented project that sees dancy elements melded with mellow song writing and the occasional distortion crunching away in rhythm. Victory is no stranger to this kind of style but very few on their roster stick out the way that Driver Side Impact does.

This band is almost Victory's own little version of The Killers which is both a bad and good thing. The band does have that know how for fun catchy songs that will drive the scene girls nuts, that's very clear. This band also has the musicianship which can be heard on certain tracks more so than on others but it is there. The potentials this band carries are very simple but then again simplicity is what people enjoy always hear first. The accessibility of this band is already breeding them as a marketing success. They have that typical emotional singing style and though it is not done poorly, it will need its own development in the long run.

Overall this album is at times just too simple not to like and other times gives you an idea of the audience that the band caters to and the thought of that makes one shiver to an extent. Regardless of my fear of particular crowds Driver Side Impact are ready to be given a spotlight chance which is inevitably close.
